The Scottish Greens have proposed billion-pound plans to build a rail crossing under the Firth of Forth which would 'substantially' cut journey times north.

Fraserburgh: The very last goods train at Fraserburgh on the 5th October 1979. Jim Morrison, one-time signalman at Fraserburgh, and latterly railwayman at Maud is pointing out something of interest to the driver of 27020. The location of the long since demolished signal box perhaps?

Peterhead: D5323 prepares to take the Formartine and Buchan Railtour out of Peterhead on 24 May 1969. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1965, although freight operations at the busy fishing port continued for a further 5 years. Nothing of the railway remains here today, with the site now occupied by Peterhead Academy see image [[17391]].

Almost 60 years after the widespread axing of hundreds of Scottish railway stations, proposals have been made to reverse the closures and boost the economy.
