Description

The Caledonian Railway reached here in 1888 (permission granted in 1889) with their 'Glenbuck Branch'. The same extension from Bankend also served the Galawhistle Colliery.

The Glasgow and South Western Railway is granted running powers over these lines in exchange for the Caledonian Railway having running powers from Darvel to Troon and Kilmarnock to Ayr.
