Description

This junction is south of Perth, immediately south of the Moncrieffe Tunnel. Here the lines from Stirling and Ladybank meet and continue north to Perth.


Original companies

The Scottish Central Railway, which began at Greenhill Upper Junction ran north via Stirling to Perth passing under Friarton Hill by the Moncrieffe Tunnel. Just south of the tunnel the lines was met by the Edinburgh and Northern Railway which used the metals of the Scottish Central to reach Perth.


Today

A signal box controls this junction, the box being in the 'V' of the junction. This opened in 1873.

The Edinburgh and Northern, formerly double track, drops to a single track going south east from the junction.
