Rail bosses are hatching plans to offer half-hourly trains along the Gourock and Wemyss Bay lines from the middle of next year according to the areas MSP. Stuart McMillan recently met with ScotRail bosses to raise concerns about their plans to axe nine fast train services between Gourock and Glasgow. The SNP politician says that during the meeting rail bosses outlined a long-term vision of running half-hourly trains across the two Inverclyde lines from June 2024.

The Friends of Wemyss Bay Station announced on their Facebook page: We are delighted that, after many years, the clock tower clock is working properly again and showing the correct time!

A new electronic mechanism has been fitted and the faces are now lit at night.

We are grateful to the Railway Heritage Trust for sharing the cost equally with us, and to Network Rail Scotland for arranging the work.

Friends of Wemyss Bay Station have secured funding to restore the clock tower to its former glory. The 120-year-old tower was built as part of the grade A listed station, which has become famous the world over as an architectural masterpiece.
