Contract to maintain 51-strong train fleet gets extension for 8 years, until2031. Builds on success of recent digital upgrade by Siemens Mobility which means the trains remotely monitor their own condition through Railigent X. Siemens Mobility will work with new operator TransPennine Trains Limited and train owner Eversholt Rail to ensure continued reliability across the fleet which serves passengers travelling between Manchester, Sheffield, Cleethorpes and Hull.

With initial support from the Department for Transports First of a Kind Programme, Varamis Rail has leased from Eversholt Rail a 35-year-old former passenger-carrying four-car electric multiple-unit, refurbished internally with seats removed to accommodate small consignments, to provide a proof-of-concept service running five nights a week in both directions between two locations convenient for the motorway network, Mossend near Glasgow and Birmingham International Station.

Eversholt Rail has reached agreement with Varamis Rail to lease a Class 321 Swift Express Freight train to deliver light goods at high speed across the UK. Varamis will be running services 5 nights a week from Birmingham to Scotland for a major parcel carrier.

Class 321 Swift Express Freight provides all electric traction delivering an environmentally friendly alternative to HGVs predominantly used in the logistics sector. The ex-passenger trains have been repurposed for freight use with high capacity and 100mph services able to access rail terminals, ports and city centres across the rail network.

'The Fire Service College is delighted to announce the arrival of three replacement train carriages, supplied in collaboration with Eversholt Rail. The project was delivered over a two month period, which resulted in a number of older carriages being replaced with Mk4 rail carriages, kindly donated to The Fire Service College by Eversholt Rail. The rail facility at The Fire Service College is used extensively to provide training to all emergency responders in respect to dealing with rail incidents and practising operational policies and procedures. The facility will support the development of operational crews as well as developing incident commanders.

A Class 365 electric multiple unit with strong connections to Her Majesty The Queen has been granted a place in preservation by its former owner Eversholt Rail.

Unit No. 365524 considered to be in the best condition of the original fleet of 41 trains is destined for the East Kent Railway in mid-January. The initiative came from transport consultant and investor Howard Johnston, and the unit is intended for static display and become a restaurant, exhibition area, and major events venue.

Eversholt Rail and Gemini Rail Services (Gemini) are delighted to announce an initial programme to convert four Class 321 units for Swift Express Freight. Conversion work will commence during November with unit delivery expected from February 2022.

Hitachi Rail and Eversholt Rail are in the advanced stages of designing and engineering an electric-diesel-battery (tri-mode) train, with plans to trial on a Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 802 train in 2022.

With proof of concept and layout in the final stages of approval, work has begun to build the battery for functional testing and integration onto the train. The battery, which will be 6m x 2.2m in size, will replace one of the diesel engines on a five car GWR Class 802 train.

Hitachi Rail Europe announced on February 15 that production has begun at Hitachi Rail Italys Pistoia plant on the first of 36 class 802 inter-city trains for Great Western Railway (GWR).

In 2015 GWR placed a £361m order through leasing company Eversholt Rail for 22 five-car and seven nine-car trains. An option for seven additional nine-car sets was subsequently exercised in August 2016. The trains will be introduced on services from London Paddington to Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance from December 2018.

ScotRail has this week rolled out the first two refurbished examples of the seven Class 320 trains set to run on cross-Glasgow services via Glasgow Central Low Level.
It first announced late last year that the seven trains, owned by Eversholt Rail and previously operated by London Midland, would be phased in as part of a £475m fleet overhaul programme, which will pay for the renewal or full refurbishment of 90% of the operators fleet.
The three-carriage Class 320s will be painted in ScotRails own Saltire livery and feature revamped interiors, such as more modern flooring, finishes and toilets. They will also be fitted with new CCTV and passenger information systems, with wi-fi due to be rolled out across the fleet from September.

Rolling stock leasor Eversholt Rail has awarded Alstom a £36.1m contract to refurbish its 40 class 334 EMUs operated by First ScotRail on services between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Bathgate. Work is due to start in early 2015 and will take place at the Glasgow Traincare Centre in Polmadie, where components will be removed and refitted, and at Manchester Traincare Centre.

More than 20 ScotRail trains have been upgraded as part of a multi-million pound investment by the fleet owner Eversholt Rail, with another 21 vehicles set to be refurbished by 2016.
Passengers travelling from and to Helensburgh, Balloch, Dalmuir, Milngavie, Airdrie, Springburn, Larkhall, Lanark, Carstairs and Coatbridge Central stations will benefit from the works, carried out by Doncaster-based Wabtec.
Twenty-two Class 320 trains have received new toilets and doors, two wheelchair bays and footstep lighting, with the final train completed on Friday.
The works were undertaken to comply with European standards to improve accessibility for those with reduced mobility which must be completed by 2020.
The 320s will be the first fleet in the UK to be completed ahead of the deadline.
