Highland Chieftain among nameplates up for auction this weekend.
(Permalink) Highland Chieftain London and North Eastern Railway National Railway Museum Rail Aid Railway Children  Edinburgh Park: The nose has it. The Up Highland Chieftain passed Edinburgh Park on 4 February 2020 lending the only variety to ScotRail services round these parts. It's funny to think of Azumas in the timeless scenery of the Highland Main Line. Mind you, I suppose HSTs looked at least as incongruous when they first appeared there.  Aviemore: The 1200hrs Highland Chieftain service from London King's Cross to Inverness arriving at Aviemore station, just after 1930hrs on 24th February 2018.  Dunblane: Running only 5 minutes behind time, the up Highland Chieftan does courageous battle with the “Beast from the East†at Dunblane on 28th February 2018. The “snowflake†generation of Class 170 and 158 DMUs on the other services was soon out of its depth, however, and within a few hours the system was at a standstill. |

Avanti West Coast gets right behind this month's Rail Aid campaign, inviting bids for eagerly sought after Crewe Station signs, with all proceeds going to the Railway Children charity.
