It is seen as a big day out for Harry Potter fans but the Hogwarts rail experience is rather less magical for others. Councils have written to the steam train's operator about human waste being emptied from its lavatories on to the track. ... Councillors raised concerns about the smell last year and have now asked West coast to cease its 30-minute stops at Glenfinnan station because of waste being emptied on to the track. Hege Hernes, manager of the station museum, told Glenfinnan community council 'We understand that when people need to go they have to, but we cannot put at risk the health and welfare of our staff and volunteers.'

Fuming council chiefs have kicked up a stink with bosses of the Harry Potter train - over claims the iconic loco is spraying poo all over the tracks. The Highland authority wrote to Jacobite operators West Coast Railways warning them to stop dumping human waste on parts of the scenic railway.
