Work on a £250,000 upgrade to Montrose station has begun. Contractors will replace the toilets in the main building and provide customers with a new, modern shelter on platform two. The new toilets will include baby changing facilities and seating in the platform two shelter, which will be a glass construction with stainless steel panels and a concrete floor. Seating in the shelter has been increased from six seats to nine.

Montrose: An Edinburgh to Aberdeen 170 calls at Montrose on 13 February 2019. This train used to go on to Inverurie, but the through trains stopped (temporarily?) with the December 2018 timetable.

A new shuttle service between Montrose and Edinburgh will be introduced from Monday, 14 September to allow customers travelling in the north east to complete their journey by rail.
The service will run Monday to Saturday between Montrose and Edinburgh, and between Montrose and Dundee on Sundays.
It follows the introduction of a rail shuttle service between Aberdeen and Stonehaven last week.
Existing replacement bus services between Dundee and Aberdeen remain in place for customers travelling beyond Montrose.
