Network Rail has appointed Story Contracting Ltd to design a new railway station on the Neilston line in the area south of Barrhead.

A £2.9m project to replace a bridge on a key walking route over the Neilston railway line has taken a big step forward.

Plans for another station in Barrhead have moved forward. It is hoped a Barrhead South Rail Station, off Balgraystone Road, will support the regeneration of the town and house building in the area. [Curiously the STV article is illustrated with a view of Glenfinnan taken at track level. -RS]

Construction of a new £18 million railway station for Barrhead has been given the green light to start next year. The station will be located off Balgraystone Road, between St Lukes High School and the Dams to Darnley car park, on the existing Glasgow to Neilston line.
