Network Rail has appointed Story Contracting Ltd to design a new railway station on the Neilston line in the area south of Barrhead.

Work is expected to begin in June next year and be completed by December 2025, writes Local Democracy Service reporter Drew Sandelands.

Plans for another station in Barrhead have moved forward. It is hoped a Barrhead South Rail Station, off Balgraystone Road, will support the regeneration of the town and house building in the area. [Curiously the STV article is illustrated with a view of Glenfinnan taken at track level. -RS]
