The drive by the rail and road freight industry to achieve net zero status has been highlighted during the COP26 climate change summit this week.

The move towards reducing emissions across the sectors supply chains in Scotland and the UK has been showcased at a three-day event, titled Low Carbon Logistics, which concluded on Transport Day at the conference yesterday.

Mossend Marshalling Yard: This NTS/DRS Class 68, seen stabled at Mossend, was renamed 'Pride of the North' at Mossend Yard on the 10th November. 68006 was used until last year (2020) on the Fife Circle.

Nuclear Transport Solutions rail division has launched a new locomotive design at this years Low Carbon Logistics event in Mossend, Scotland.

As part of the programme for COP26, Low Carbon Logistics was developed to celebrate innovation in the rail freight sector and showcase its environmental benefits.

The UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) brings governments, experts and scientists together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The new green design for Direct Rail Services (DRS) 68006 showcases the superb environmental benefits of rail freight and how a diesel locomotive is able to significantly reduce its carbon emissions when using HVO fuel.

An event raising awareness about the transition to Net Zero in the Rail and Road Freight industries will begin on Monday 8th November. Taking place during COP26 and finishing on Transport Day at the global conference, Low Carbon Logistics is a three-day event to showcase the drive to net zero emission supply chains taking place in Scotland and the UK.
