This short double track tunnel carries the railway via Clydebank under the older line via Singer east of Dalmuir station.
The new, in 1897, extension from Clydebank Junction to Dalmuir Park Junction passed under the existing line directly east of Dalmuir [1st] station and its goods yard. This station was replaced by Dalmuir for the opening of the new line, a station serving both the original line and new line and located slightly further west.
