Description

This is a new (2005) single platform station on a single track line, located on the west side of the line. The station has a large car park. To the south is the Allanton Loop.

The station was opened as there were planned housing developments all around its site.

Nearby there have been three different Ferniegair [3rd] station (link is for the most recent). That name was not used for the present station, the more prestigious Chatelherault, referring to the Duke of Hamilton's former estate, being used. The estate, now Chatelherault Country Park, is located just to the west of the station.
