Darlington North Road

View over the east side of the Stockton and Darlington North Road station, looking towards Shildon. Behind the barrier on the right is the operational platform served by trains on the Bishop Auckland - Saltburn line, now accessed via a direct pedestrian link from North Road itself (behind the camera). On this side of the fence are the buildings of what is now North Road Museum, seen here on 4 April 2008, the day before the official reopening, following the successful completion of major refurbishment work on the whole complex (including the station platform and trainshed). On the north side of the line further on stood the North Eastern Railway locomotive works, much of which is now covered by industrial and retail developments.
