The Cornhill Branch (Coldstream to Alnwick) is opened throughout and for passengers with the opening of Wooperton to Alnwick. For the extra traffic Alnwick station re-built.

Closed to passengers.
11/08/1948Cornhill Branch (North Eastern Railway)
Flooding damage washes away a bridge between Wooler and Idlerton. The bridge is not replaced and the line operated as two branches; Coldstream to Wooler and Alnwick to Idlerton.
02/03/1953Cornhill Branch (North Eastern Railway)
Idlerton to Alnwick (excluded) closed completely.
29/03/1964Cornhill Branch (North Eastern Railway)
Scottish Rambler No 3 runs from Coldstream to Wooler.

Wooler to Coldstream (excluded) closed completely, the last part of the line.

This former island platform is a remarkably complete large site. The station building, a single storey, had canopies. On the west side was a large goods shed. To the east a row of railway cottages. The line was crossed by a girder bridge to the south. The building and the use of an island platform was not typical of the line.

This substantial station closed in 1968. The station building remains standing and there are portions of platforms. It was the terminus of the line from Alnmouth and, from 1887, the line from Coldstream (the junction was south of the station.)
