16/07/2020 New hope for Derby to Manchester railway line as Government launches new fund [Derbyshire Live] A campaign has been launched to reinstate the direct railway line from Derby to Manchester. The Manchester and East Midlands Rail Action Partnership (MEMRAP) proposes new Government funding is used to reinstate the long-lost Peaks and Dales line. Currently, it is not possible to catch a direct train from Derby Midland Station to Manchester, with passengers needing to change at stations including Sheffield and Stoke-on-Trent.
