Craigag No 62 Tunnel: Black 5 No.45212 builds up some speed at Torr Linne Dhughaill, ready for the long climb up to Glenfinnan, with 'The Jacobite' afternoon service on 8th September 2022.
Cambus: During reinstatement of the Srirling - Alloa - Kincardine line a PW materials delivery and distribution hub was established on vacant land at Cambus, just west of the level crossing. This photograph, taken on 17 October 2007, shows a Hydrex road-rail vehicle on the crossing, with recently loaded flatbed trucks attached front and rear, setting off in the direction of Alloa.
Nuneaton: No matter how much stations are modernized, older features, like this possibly 1940s light fitting near platform 1 at Nuneaton, tend to hang on. The pattern on the lift doors is interesting - it looks like a ghostly face with a hand up in front of it - but there's probably some prosaic explanation, like polishing marks.
Kearsley: A pair of Northern 331 EMUs hurry through Kearsley towards Bolton on 7th September 2022. There are no original buildings on any of the intermediate stations between Bolton and Salford, just the usual modern platform shelters. On the Up Manchester platform, which is lower than the Down, there is a Harrington Hump at the south end. A subway connects the two sides.
Helensburgh Upper: The ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban and Mallaig, dividing at Crianlarich, calling at Helensburgh Upper on Wednesday, 7th September 2022. This view is looking back south towards Glasgow with the long, covered entrance ramp leading down from the overbridge. After two nights in Glasgow, my friends and I were on our way to Fort William for three nights, and which stay included a trip on 'The Jacobite' to Mallaig and back.
Moy: 66714 'Cromer Lifeboat' and 73966 head south at Moy with the Caledonian Sleeper, in what was the only sunny evening shot of the sleeper that I managed to get in 2022.
Cameron Bridge: A view of the spoil from the demolition of the older Cameron Bridge station's platform.
Didcot Parkway: DBC 60059 at Didcot on 14th September 2022. After refuelling at the local EWS depot, the engine heads for Theale, Berks. Here it will pick up a tank train for Robeston and travel down the GW Berks and Hants line.
Capernwray Arm: Just to the north of Bridge 133 on the Lancaster Canal is the Capernwray Arm, a short branch off the canal that once afforded direct access for boats into a now disused quarry. This is the junction of the Arm with the main part of the canal, which continues beyond towards Tewitfield. The branch now has moorings for pleasure craft.
Gare St Lazare: Looking south over the throat of the Gare St Lazare in 1984. Type Z 6300 EMU 331 heads towards the terminus.
Cononish Viaduct: Cononish viaduct in a view looking north. On the left can be seen an access road built for works on the viaduct and its foundations.
Carlisle: A Derby DMU for Glasgow, via the G&SW Dumfries route, awaits departure from Carlisle in December 1965.
