Euxton Junction: The round Britain tour of 2022 with the Royal Scotsman rake is seen south of Euxton Jct with 66746 leading and 66743 on the rear. This was Day 3 and the train was heading from Dundee to Chester.

Crianlarich: With joining passengers now safely aboard the Mallaig portion of the ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street, and the Oban portion gone on its way, the train that will reverse at Fort William is ready to depart from Crianlarich on Wednesday 7th September 2022, here using the left hand platform at this crossing point in the usual way.

Ardlui: Ardlui station at the north end of Loch Lomond, looking north, with passengers alighting from the Mallaig portion of the ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street (with the Oban portion being detached at Crianlarich) on Wednesday, 7th September 2022. On the left is a southbound service to Glasgow Queen Street; contrary to the normal British rule of passing on the left at stations on single track lines with passing loops, these trains unusually, are here crossing on the right.

Fountainhall: The abandoned station at Fountainhall on 18 September 2022, with the 0912 service from Waverley passing through southbound on its way to Tweedbank. The train has just cleared the bridge carrying the link road between the village and the A7 and is passing over the site of the level crossing which it replaced in 2014 (now a Network Rail access point). ScotRail unit 170407 carries British Transport Police branding.

Arrochar and Tarbet: The ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban and Mallaig, dividing at Crianlarich with the Mallaig portion reversing at Fort William, calling at Arrochar & Tarbet station, looking north, on Wednesday, 7th September 2022. Unlike at Ardlui, the train is using the left-hand side of the island platform in the normal way, although no southbound train was booked to pass here, that had occurred at Ardlui where, unusually, the trains had crossed on the right.

Leyland: The Pathfinder The Cumbrian Fells Express return trip from Carlisle to Bristol passes Leyland with 57012 and 57010, having taken over from 34067 'Tangmere' at Preston on 3 September 2022.

Coppull [2nd]: BR Standard Class 7MT pacific, 70000 'Britannia' runs northwards in the cutting at Charnock Richard, just to the north of Coppull, with Steam Dreams tour, 'The Lakes Express' on 27 September 2022. The tour started at London Victoria with West Country pacific 34046 'Braunton' working as far as Crewe. 'Britannia' then travelled via the S&C and using the Upperby curve accessed the WCML for a run to Oxenholme. This was the outward part of the tour and the return trip to London will be on Friday.

Canning Dock: Since 2009 this lock from the Canning Dock has been the entrance point to the western end of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. This lock, and a new stretch of canal along the waterfront known as the Liverpool Tunnels Link, replaced a sea lock into the Mersey Estuary allowing canal boats to safely enter the city. The white building in the background is the Liverpool Museum, home of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway 0-4-2 'Lion' - (See [[42070]]).
