Whittingham Hospital

Ex LB&SCR D1 0-4-2T James Fryar and the post war CMHW passenger stock standing outside the shed in the yard at Whittingham Hospital, prior to working a service to Grimsargh. The shed is still used as a NHS workshop See image 33027. The former No. 2357 was purchased from the Southern Railway in 1947 for £750 and it was older than the hospital line. It was the last survivor of its class but when the boiler expired in 1955 it was laid aside and sadly scrapped when the line closed.
