Whittingham Hospital

Crumbling remains of part of Whittingham Hospital station, the brickwork marking part of the former waiting area. The station was never staffed as the trains were free to use for staff and visitors alike. The row of concrete blocks mark the line of the former platform in this view looking east from the hospital towards Grimsargh. There are several pictures of the hospital station and railway in operation in David Hindle's new history of the Longridge branch line. Photo taken with kind permission of NHS staff.
