Burscough Bridge

Class 25 Bo-Bo No. 25153 has set its train of ballast wagons back onto the West to South chord at Burscough Bridge to allow a Derby Class 108 DMU to pass on its way to Southport. The main line is protected by catch points and the small ground shunting signal or dolly. The chord was still in occasional use at this time to access an MOD Depot at Burscough Junction. The Preston to Ormskirk line can be seen in the background crossing the Wigan line and the formation of the West to North curve starts just behind the signal box. See image 22976 for a Then and Now comparison.
