The iconic clock at the Balmoral Hotel on Princes Street will not correct the time on Hogmanay for the first time in 118 years [Edinburgh Evening News]

The clock traditionally runs three minutes fast to aid those attempting to catch a train at Waverley Station. The only time it would right itself is on Hogmanay, in order to mark the bells at midnight.

The iconic clock at the Balmoral Hotel on Princes Street will not correct the time on Hogmanay for the first time in 118 years.

It had been 6.25 on the Balmoral clock more or less since the start of lockdown when it stopped and couldn't be maintained. It is now moving again so punters no longer have an excuse for missing the trains they are not allowed to travel on. Walter Scott remains stony-faced.
