The planned platform renumbering omits 5 & 6, positions currently occupied by the 2 short ex-Motorail loading bays (note the ramps) and used primarily nowadays for stabling sleeper locomotives. The bays are seen on 22 October 2006 from the east end of the car park. Obvious potential exists here for any longer term expansion that may be required to east end platform capacity.

Platform 12 at Waverley has been so thoroughly ripped up that its hard to believe it is being extended rather than abolished. Meanwhile, the building behind it, which will in due course need to be demolished, is still in use.
