Name and dates

Wellesley Colliery Lady Lilian Pit

Served by the Wemyss and Buckhaven Railway.

Description

This pit was served by a branch from the Wemyss and Buckhaven Railway. There was a yard to the east of the pit and the pit was south of the line.

The pit was redeveloped as the Wellesley Colliery Lochhead Colliery and served by the Wemyss Private Railway although the original line connection was retained.

The site of the pit is now derelict and overgrown.

The branch continued west and then south to serve the Wellesley Colliery Hugo Pit from which it extended south through the West Wemyss Tunnel to West Wemyss.
