Description

This colliery was served by a branch of the Wemyss Private Railway.

The drift mine here closed in 1958. Opencast mining ceased in 1961.

Opencasting restarted around 2002. As part of the planning a 'railway halt' (loading pad) was to be established to the north at Earlseat Loading Pad. This did not open until 2012 and remained open only briefly.
