Neidpath Viaduct (1864-1954)

Opened on the Symington, Biggar and Broughton Extension Railway (Caledonian Railway).


Description

440 yards. This is a disused seven arch single viaduct on a skew. The viaduct has castellated features due to the nearby Neidpath Castle.

Neidpath Tunnel is to the immediate east.

Local

The viaduct now carries a footpath and the line can be walked from Lyne to Peebles West. Walking the viaduct was common even in the days before the railway closed.
