Name and dates

Fairmuir Goods (1885-1967)

Opened on the Fairmuir and Maryfield Goods (Scottish Central Railway).

Description

This was a goods yard in the north of Dundee, north of the Law. It opened in 1885. The branch to the yard crossed the course of the original Dundee and Newtyle Railway just west of the goods yard on its approach to Fairmuir Junction.

The yard had a long headshunt to the west which also served the King's Cross Bakery. The main sidings were laid out between Clepington Road and Strathmartine Road.

The yard closed in 1967, along with the line from Ninewells Junction (which had become goods only by this time). The site is now several industrial units.
