Opened on the Edinburgh and Bathgate Railway.

Description

This is a Light Maintenance Depot to the east of Bathgate station and on the south side of the line. It was opened in connection with the electrification of the line and re-opening west to Airdrie (and Drumgelloch).

The depot can be approached from west (there is a crossover at Bathgate) and the east (another crossover at the Bathgate STVA Aborted Siding [East].

This was the site of a rail served road vehicle distribution depot.

Prior to this it was the site of Bathgate Yard, largely associated with the considerable coal traffic in the area. This was yard of at least 16 looped storage sidings and loops.

The yard was, at its east end, crossed by Rennie^s Bridge - initially a long causeway with a bridge crossing two lines. As the yard expanded further portions of the causeway were replaced with bridges. This bridge was demolished during electrification. A similar bridge existed just east of West Calder Branch Junction - these bridges preserved rights of access to the moss to the south which, before the railway, was reached by many short roads.

The Wilsontown, Morningside and Coltness Railway was promoted to finish here with a junction facing Bathgate. This approach was not built.
