Lane Head Crossing: A number of very small and quaint crossing boxes on the N&C appear to have been replaced by Portakabins with a storm porch attached. View looks towards Carlisle from a tarmacked road; the road on the other side requires a 4x4.
Wimbledon: Merchant Navy 35028 'Clan Line' on down train, west of Wimbledon station, in August 1958.
Bonnyrigg: The landscaped platforms of the former Bonnyrigg station now form part of the Penicuik - Dalkeith Walkway. Photographed looking south west along the trackbed towards Rosewell on 3 July 2022, with Sunday morning strollers enjoying the sunshine. View is from the access point on Dundas Street, complete with information board containing details of the route and its various delights.
North Weald: D7523 at North Weald on the Epping Ongar Railway, deep in rural Essex and part of the LU Central Line until September 1994 (which now seems hard to believe), on 23rd June 2013.
Dunfermline Queen Margaret: 66109 runs through Dunfermline Queen Margaret station in 2001 hauling coal destined for Longannet Power Station, after reversing at Townhill Yard. The line to Dunfermline Upper once diverged here and ran through the centre distance.
Adlington [Lancashire]: TPE 397012 hurries through Adlington with a Manchester Airport to Glasgow Central service on 13th July 2022. The small ticket office seen here is still staffed at present. Most services through here start at the airport or Hazel Grove but, since electrification, there is now a once daily through train (at 0629) from Stoke-on-Trent to Blackpool, giving the opportunity to travel from Adlington (Cheshire) to Adlington (Lancashire) without changing trains - if that sort of thing floats your boat.
York: There is something a little other-worldly about this view of 68024 waiting at York's platform 4 to take a train to Scarborough - especially as the tail lights indicate that the next move will be South, not North.
Polmadie Shed: Previously at the Longmoor Military Railway, Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No 48775, together with 48773 and 48774, was transferred to Polmadie shed in September 1957. Here it is, basking in the autumn sunshine at its Home Depot on 27 October 1962.
Broomhill: Looking across the Spey Valley from a lay-by on the A95 some 9 miles north east of Aviemore on 16 May 2002. Nestling between the fields of spring lambs is Broomhill station, closed by BR in 1965, but whose reopening by the Strathspey Railway would take place 2 weeks later.
Fraserburgh: Fraserburgh goods yard on 1 June 1974, with the 'Buchan Belle' railtour 2-car Met-Cam DMU parked alongside a loading bank. The last freight would leave Fraserburgh in 1979. See [[17381]].
Kingsbarns: View of the closed station at Kingsbarns, taken from a DMU operating the 14.42 service from Dundee to Edinburgh, via Crail, on 4th September 1965. The Fife Coast line closed to regular passenger traffic two days later.
Kensington Olympia: 59204 heading north through Kensington (Olympia) on 8th April 2014.
