Cogie Hill

The extended former crossing keeper's cottage at Cogie Hill, looking towards Garstang, in January 2020. Trains crossed the road at an oblique angle so crossing gate posts were set well back. A wooden one survives on the far right of the picture. The concrete gate post that can be seen between the two cars features in See image 60670 when the line was still open. The halt, such as it was, was just behind the camera to the left. Like that nearby at Cockerham Cross this was a request stop only on certain days of the week. The term 'hill' in these parts refers to any slight pimple that rises above the flat marshy ground.
