Opened on the Devon Valley Railway. This was a two platform station with a passing loop on a single track railway. Platforms were staggered. The eastbound platform was slightly further to the north. This platform had the main station building.
The goods yard was on the west side, approached from the south. The signal box was on the west side of the line at the south end of the station.
The station and line closed in 1964.
The westbound platform remains intact while the trackbed is now a road and the eastbound platform has been removed and its site and the former goods yard are occupied by housing.
Rumbling Bridge [1st], a temporary terminus, was to the east before the line was extended through difficult terrain westwards towards Dollar.
The Rumbling Bridge itself, crossing over the River Devon, was a little way to the north west.
