Description

This tunnel carried a tramway from Crookston on the Glasgow, Paisley and Ardrossan Canal to mines and chemical works at The Hurlet. (Hurlet Colliery Tramway)

The Ordnance Survey Name Book described it thus

This Tunnel was constructed to connect by tram way the works about Hurlet with the Glasgow, Paisley and Ardrossan Canal. The rails or tramway is abandoned but the tunnel remains and is known by the name supplied.


The tunnel ran north - south between the canal (now the site of Crookston station) and Howford Bridge.
