Hurlford Viaduct (1848-)

Opened on the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway.

Description

This is a seven arch double track masonry viaduct crossing the River Irvine north of the former Hurlford station.

The overall length of the viaduct is 351 ft, it is 70 ft high.

Between the former station and the viaduct were sidings for Bellfield Colliery, to the west, and for the Portland Iron Works to the east. Both made trailing connections to their side of the railway. (See entry for Hurlford North Signal Box.)
