Ellon: Remains of a watertank at the north end of the northbound main platform at Ellon station in 1997. The platform to the right was the main southbound platform. Just to the north of the watertank was a turntable. The base of the watertank still stands, damaged by treefalls in recent years.
Ellon: Apart from the platform edges, the main artefact to survive at Ellon is the old water tower base. This is the structure, just off the end of the Fraserburgh platform, in April 2025. See image [[32277]] showing the tower base in 1965. Even at that early date services had been dieselised and it had lost its tank.
Ellon: Looking northwards on the old Fraserburgh line, from the end of the island platform, in April 2025. A large council depot was constructed on the formation of the goods yard and Boddam branch lines while freight services were still running on the lines to Fraserburgh and Peterhead. To the left (off picture) at this point the boundary fence widens as there was a turntable but the area is now overgrown. See image [[21842]] for a similar view in 1963.
Brentor: Brentor Station House, on the Tavistock to Okehampton former LSWR main line, in April 2010. The line sadly closed back in 1968.
Norham: Many original features remain at this former station, which closed to passengers in 1964 and completely the following year.
Craiginches Yard: The 14:52 Aberdeen to Kings Cross, formed by LNER Azuma 800111, passing Craiginches Yard on 6th May 2025.
Glenfarg South Tunnel: This view looks north from above the southern Glen Farg tunnel towards the northern tunnel. There was just under three quarters of a mile between the two tunnels. On the distant left is Pottiehill Farm and on the right is Glen Farg. This portion of the line ran on a shelf cut out of the west side of the glen high above the river.
Wolverhampton Low Level: The former GWR station at Wolverhampton Low Level looking north in April 1969. By this time it was looking a bit neglected with only the local service to Birmingham Snow Hill via Wednesbury Central using it. This hung on until March 1972 but by then the station had been converted to a parcels concentration depot and most of the track had been lifted. I had visited once previously, in 1966, and saw my only ex-GWR steam locomotive in BR service, albeit a light engine 2-6-2T.
