Kingussie: In hazy morning sunshine, the London-bound 'Highland Chieftain' sets off from Kingussie, overtaking the 2007 'Great Britain' railtour waiting at the other platform. Locomotives on the steam charter were A4 60009 'Union of South Africa' and K4 61994 'The Great Marquess'.

Belsize Park: Exterior of Belsize Park station, LU Northern Line, in pouring rain at 13.06 on Saturday, 24th August 2024. Originally opened on 22nd June 1907 for the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway and another splendid example of the work of Leslie W. Green, the London Underground's Chief Architect of the Edwardian era but who sadly died in 1908, aged only 34.

Plaidy: I do like finding these old railway carriages in various places in the North East of Scotland. At least this one has found another use as a workshop rather than a chicken shed. Quite an interesting modification to replace the panelling with glass, the other side is unmodified. This is located halfway between Gardenstown and Cuminestown (the nearest station was probably Plaidy, about 4 and a half miles to the west).

Eastfield Shed: Eastfield shed on a bright autumnal day on 5 October 1963, and B1 4-6-0 No 61245 'Murray of Elibank' has a Fairburn 2-6-4 tank for company.

Southgate: Splendid original UndergrounD sign with Capital initial and final letters, outside Southgate station, LU Piccadilly Line, which had been closed for the past 16 days due to engineering works between Wood Green and Cockfosters, seen from replacement bus service to Cockfosters departing at 13.54 on Saturday, 31st August 2024. This was the penultimate day of the replacement bus service with trains to Cockfosters set to resume on Monday, 2nd September.

Brook Street Junction: Slumbering in a deep cutting that runs through the middle of Birkenhead are the rails of the Goods Line from Rock Ferry to Birkenhead Docks. Once busy with a variety of traffic the last train ran in 1993 and it is officially disused although not lifted. This is the view down from Price Street bridge, quite close to Conway Park station on the unconnected Wirral lines of Merseyrail, in July 2024.

Tullibardine: The station building at Tullibardine has been rebuilt. This length of rail was lying next to the core path on the east side.

Hoylake: The Art Deco buildings at Hoylake were built for the 1938 electrification, operated by the LMS Wirral units (later Class 503). The next trains to serve the station were the Class 507/508s, which lasted for around 45 years. Now it is the turn of the new Stadler 4-car articulated sets to operate the West Kirby line and 777030 is seen making its first stop on a West Kirby to Liverpool service on 17th July 2024.
