Edinburgh Waverley: J37 0-6-0 No 64608 is caught in the autumnal morning sun as it sits at the eastern end of Edinburgh Waverley on 28 September 1963.
Burntisland Aluminium Works: A class 150 passes the former British Aluminium Company's works at Burntisland, in the course of demolition in 2003, one year after closure. The rail connection was abandoned in the mid-1970s.
St Ann's Road: View from a no. 67 bus on St. Ann's Road, Tottenham, at 12.16 on Sunday, 1st September 2024. Again, it was a sheer fluke that a London Overground class 710 towards Gospel Oak passed across the skew bridge over Seven Sisters Road at the same time. St. Ann's Road station was on the embankment on the right, it closed as a WWII economy in 1942 but never reopened. Today there are no signs of the platforms. However, the entrance, which was round the corner on Seven Sisters Road, survived as a newsagents until 2012 when it was unexpectedly demolished.
Hopwood Signal Box: Viewed from the footbridge at the 5th Laneside Lock on the Rochdale Canal, 156464 heads away from the camera on a Headbolt Lane to Blackburn service on 17th April 2024. The Sprinter has just crossed the canal diagonally on Laneside Bridge, which was also the site of long closed Hopwood Signal Box.
Slateford: Locomotive Services' D8096 and D8107 approach Slateford on 12 September 2024, their third day of wanderings in the Central Belt, presumed route learning. The locos are of class...erm...
Garve: K4 61994 'The Great Marquess' prepares to tackle the severe climb out of Garve on the Kyle of Lochalsh leg of the 2007 'Great Britain' railtour. I think this was the only time in the 'Great Britain' era on which the load was eight carriages unassisted. Runs in later years have been less heavily loaded.
Buxton: Sprinter 150243 approaches Buxton in July 2024 whilst 37254, sitting in the Up Relief Sidings, has just received the road to return to Peak Forest and onwards towards North Wales with an RTC track measurement train with 37607 on the rear. The use of the calling-on arm signifies to the Sprinter driver that there is already a train occupying Platform 2 at Buxton Station.
Tullibardine: View looking south of the Crieff branch at East Third Farm showing the former trackbed. It was rather a foggy day.
Fareham: 387223 calls at Fareham, with the 1350hrs Southampton to Brighton service, on 15th August 2024.
