Brent Cross West: 700060, Thameslink to St. Pancras International, arriving at the brand new Brent Cross West station on its First Day opening, Sunday, 10th December 2023. This was the train I travelled back on to St. Pancras after giving the station my seal of approval. It was much bigger and better than I expected it to be.

Brent Cross West: The brand new Brent Cross West station, looking south from the east side island platform (the west side island was not in use on this day) on its First Day of service, Sunday, 10th December 2023. The station has cost £419 million.

Mill Hill Broadway: Mill Hill Broadway, looking north from the down slow platform, at 13.07 on Saturday, 25th November 2023. It opened as Mill Hill with the Midland Railway's London Extension of 1868 and became Mill Hill Broadway in 1950. It was completely rebuilt in the mid-1960s concurrently with the construction of the M1 motorway which runs alongside the up platform on the right at the same level, slicing its intrusive way through this rather pleasant north London suburb. The ticket office is squeezed unattractively into a space beneath the M1 where there is also a small bus station, also covered by the motorway.

Niddrie West Junction: An empty ballast train returning to Millerhill South Sidings on 1 July 2018 runs through Niddrie West Junction on the sub towards Brunstane. The unusual routeing was necessitated by temporary closure of the direct line between Niddrie West and Niddrie South due to a subsidence problem, requiring a reversal via Portobello.

Callander (Dreadnought): This shows the Callander East signal box in October 1968. The lever frame had already been removed. Further east we were astonished to discover a fully-formed station complete with turntable. [The original terminus was retained as a goods yard.]

Benarty Colliery: Spoil at the site of Benarty Colliery, north of Kelty. The site was served from a headshunt which made a trailing connection at Benarty Signal Box. This colliery was on the east side of the line, on the west side was Kinnaird Colliery.
