Sighthill East Junction [1st]: An unexpected sight, speeding past the turn off at Sighthill East junction in 1965 was Britannia 70039 'Sir Christopher Wren' with an unidentified express heading for Buchanan Street. I had just enjoyed a footplate ride through the Buchanan St tunnel on an empty stock working (see [[77714]]) when the Britannia appeared, going a good deal faster than I thought would have been typical when so close to the terminus. I am pretty sure the train was a special of some sort, but it did not spend long at Buchanan St, as loco and train were hauled past us in the tunnel when we went back down the hill to the station. I never did find out what the working was.

Boddam: This interesting and much modified former rail vehicle is mounted alongside a street in Boddam, quite close to the bridge to the Buchan Ness lighthouse. At the other end full width double doors have been fitted. Boddam station itself was sited on the then edge of the town but closed to passengers in 1932. The last freight left in 1945 and the site is now built over.

Hendon: Hendon station, up platform, seen from 700057 with a Thameslink service to St. Albans City calling at the down platform, at 13.03 on Saturday, 25th November 2023. It is actually in West Hendon, which would be a more accurate name, and was opened with the Midland Railway's London Extension to goods on 9th March 1868 and to passengers on 13th July of the same year. It was completely rebuilt during the first stage of the Midland Main Line electrification in the early 1970s.

Ardrossan Town: Period piece at Ardrossan, thought to have been taken in 1965, with what appears to be a Wolseley 6/99 or 6/110 large saloon waiting for the gates to open. [With many thanks for the corrections sent by AS, PB, RB and KL. This photograph was initially mistakenly labelled as Broughty Ferry.]

Kelty Yard: View south over the site of Kelty Yard. The line entered the yard at the bottom centre with looped sidings laid out on either side of the line. Two branches left the line nearby - where the distant shed is located. The Loch Ore branch ran off to the left and the Blairenbathie and Blairadam Collieries branch ran off uphill to the right.

Cromarty Pier: Dwarfed by a passing vessel, 'Cromarty Queen' approaches Cromarty Pier with the ferry from Nigg in September 2013. 'Cromarty Queen' was a turntable ferry with capacity for four cars and 50 passengers and operated the crossing from 2011 until 2014 when the service was suspended due to the condition of Cromarty Pier. It resumed in 2016 but with a different vessel, the 'Renfrew Rose'.
