Selkirk: Boleside Road footbridge, over the former Selkirk branch at Galashiels, reopened on 3 November 2023 following renovation by National Highways. The original ironwork has been renovated and repainted, and there is a new steel deck. This photo is by Greg Beecroft.

Newton Flat Crossing: Looking north east to Falkland Yard, still busy with coal traffic in 1992. In the foreground is the line from Newton Junction to Ayr Harbour (to the left) which was crossed by the original approach to the first Ayr station (some way behind the camera).

Haymarket MPD: 37054, a March Depot boilered loco at the time, is seen on Haymarket shed along with 40165 and 20218 in June 1981. One did not come to Scotland to see March 37s that one saw every day of ones working life and I was not amused to see 37054 there that day. I guess it had come up on a Anglo Scottish Speedlink.

Haymarket Central Junction: Haymarket Central Junction signal box with Haymarket depot on the right of the shot and a couple of Claytons visible. No details for this shot but 1970s pre 1975. The oil train may be a Grangemouth to Granton working but again no notes.

Banchory [2nd]: Banchory station, seen from a departing DMU bound for Ballater. The date is thought to have been late 1965 or early 1966, just a few weeks before closure of the Deeside line.

Wrexham Central: This picture at Wrexham Central would not have been possible with a Class 230 three-car set as they fill the slightly extended platform. 150255 was on Borderlands Line duties on 4th October 2023. The scheduled journey time from Bidston to Wrexham Central is 58 minutes so there are tight turnarounds at both ends to maintain an hourly service.

Crowden: 76024 76006 hauls a Fiddlers Ferry to Wath empty mgr service near Crowden on a cold March day in 1981. It was often cold here, if not wet as well. Did the sun ever shine and was it ever busy? Hours seemed to be spent sitting in the car waiting for the barriers to go down at Torside.
