Wrexham General: Wrexham General, a splendid looking station, is the last in the UK to still use the suffix 'General', which distinguishes it from nearby Wrexham Central, terminus of the Borderlands Line. 158823 slows to call with a Holyhead to Cardiff service on 4th October 2023. This was an ASLEF strike day but Merseyrail and TfW were operating a near normal service.

Dorrington: The view at Dorrington, looking south from the bracket signal, in 1968. The station had closed ten years earlier but the signal box has survived into the 21st Century.

Truro: Resignalling taking place at Truro in 2023. This was the view in 2013. Everyone is out recording these semaphores now as Truro will be fully re-signalled early in 2024. Much work has been done during the last two weeks with lines blocked and road transport replacing trains to allow work to go ahead. The old steam shed once stood in the middle of the picture, behind the lamp stand. A fertiliser warehouse replaced it but deliveries by rail finished many years ago.

Kirkham and Wesham: 319361 heads 1N86, the 12:39 Liverpool Lime Street to Blackpool North, passing Kirkham and Wesham on 11th November 2023. The Class 319s are reported to be all being withdrawn by the end of the year, but that is dependant on Class 323 EMUs cascading from the West Midlands.

Aberdeen: A Cravens diesel unit awaiting departure from Aberdeen bound for Ballater. The date is not known for certain, but is thought to have been late 1965 or early 1966, probably just a few weeks before closure of the Deeside line.

Bidston: 507007 calls at Bidston heading for West Kirby on 4th October 2023. When this line was electrified in 1938 most stations were rebuilt in Art-Deco style but this station is sited on marshland and its lightweight wooden buildings were retained. The junction for the Wrexham line is immediately beyond this platform.

Newhouse: Newhouse station looking south. Passenger services ended on 1st December 1930 although goods traffic continued until 4th April 1966. The goods yard was sited near the electricity pole on the left of the shot. No clue as to when I took the picture but I would guess at the early 1980s.
