Penicuik [2nd]: Penicuik goods shed in 1976 looking south west. The station building was beyond the goods shed. The signal box looking building on the right was a weighbridge for the Valleyfield Mill, further off to the right. See [[30039]] for an earlier view in the reverse direction.
Ness Islands Railway: Two diesel locos on shed at the Ness Islands Railway.
Coombe St Stephen Viaduct: 50007 crosses the Coombe St Stephen Viaduct, west of Burngullow, with the 0933 Penzance to Newcastle service 23 4 1987. The viaduct was singled when Probus to Burngullow was singled, then it cost millions to put the track back again early 2000s.
Inverness: 43163 is seen at rest in Inverness Station on 27th September 2023. It also provided my journey back to Newtonmore. A delight I must say. Probably on a par with the 'Indian Summer' of the A4s on the Aberdeen 3-hour expresses in 1966.
Rishton: Rishton Tunnel is really more of a long bridge, carrying the road to Blackburn over the line at a shallow angle. 156455 and 150149 are approaching the eastern portal with a Rainford to Blackburn service on 13th September 2023. Rishton station can just be seen in the distance.
Devonshaw Siding: A former occupational crossing west of Devonshaw Siding. The former level crossing gate, typical of the line, has (just to complicate what can be seen here) another metal gate lying against it. The level crossing gate was the longer of the two and has curved knobs.
Mossley: 66615 passes through Mossley with 6M05, the 09.30 empty binliner from Roxby to Northenden, in October 2008.
Cameron Bridge [1st]: Looking west from Station Road over the former Cameron Bridge yard on 21 October 2023. Drilling equipment is on site, possibly for electrification work.
Templecombe: Templecombe signal box and station as it was in 1971
Udny: Udny station, seen from the 2.15pm Fraserburgh-Aberdeen on Saturday 2nd October 1965, the last day of passenger services on the line.
Roxburgh: Leaving the village of Roxburgh heading west on 13 August 2013. The former station and junction were located just off picture top right, while up ahead stand the abutments of the two bridges that once carried the route via Kelso (nearest) and the Jedburgh branch beyond.
Leeds: View from 158901 with the ex-11.00 Northern service to Nottingham, just departed from Leeds, on Thursday, 21st September 2023. I travelled on this as far as Sheffield for lunch with Robert Pritchard, the Editor of Today's Railways magazine.
