Arndean Cutting: Arndean Cutting seen from the west.

Great Harwood Junction: 150224 and 150139 have just left Blackburn heading for Rainford via Copy Pit and Manchester Victoria on 13th September 2023. The train is passing the site of Great Harwood Junction, where until 1964 the 'Padiham Loop' diverged from the line to Accrington. Once an open area of sidings and lineside mills, any land no longer in railway use has either been built on or is covered in substantial trees.

Kirknewton: 385013 calls at Kirknewton with the 12.28 from Edinburgh to Glasgow Central on 16 September 2023.

Townsend Fold Level Crossing: East Lancashire Railway Autumn Steam Gala 2023. Visiting 8F 2-8-0 48305 failed at Ramsbottom on the demonstration freight train earlier on Friday 13th October but some smart work down at Bury saw the loco on the 11:30 to Rawtenstall, seen passing Townsend Fold piloting Class 24 D5061.

Plean Junction: 37153 and 37240 with 1608, a Mossend-Aberdeen Speedlink service, passing Plean Junction conveying cement wagons.

Woodborough: Woodborough Signal Box from a passing train in 1969.

Kirkby: The new Merseyrail station is officially known as Headbolt Lane, but as the extension to the new terminus beds in trains are displaying 'Kirkby H'bolt Lane' on their destination displays, as seen on 777142 calling at Kirkby on 18th October 2023. That name was also in use on the departure board at Liverpool Central.

Ellon: The fine station building at Ellon, seen from the 2.15pm Fraserburgh-Aberdeen on Saturday 2nd October 1965, the last day of passenger services on the line.

Longniddry: 31158 arrives at Longniddry with 1E29, the 17.10 Edinburgh - Newcastle local, in March 1979.

Headbolt Lane: Closeup of the articulated bogie of Merseyrail IPEMU (Independently Powered) 777146, with shoe gear retracted as it is on the non-electrified section of line from Kirkby. 777/1 is the sub class fitted with battery packs.

Arndean Cutting: View east from the west end of the Arndean Cutting. The nearer bridge is a rather elegant metal and stone bridge and beyond is a three arch bridge over the deeper part of the cutting (the unseen third arch is on the left).

Headbolt Lane: 150143 arrives at the new Platform 3 at Headbolt Lane with a service from Blackburn and Manchester on 18th October 2023. It is a very short walk from here to the Merseyrail platforms and bus interchange. The second set of buffers on the other side of the fence mark the end of the Knowsley Waste Terminal headshunt.
