Inverkeithing East Junction: 60103 'Flying Scotsman' climbs away from Inverkeithing East Junction on 8th October 2023. This was the morning 'Fife Circular', running over an hour late presumably due to the adverse weather conditions.
Coupar Angus Level Crossing: Coupar Angus (South) signalbox in the late 1980s, several years after lifting of the railway.
Killearn (New): View south east of Killearn station. The road bridge has been replaced in recent years but not removed, allowing West Highland Way walkers to pass underneath. A railway cottage, modified, still stands here out of shot to the left.
Midcalder: Midcalder station, looking west towards Midcalder Junction, in January 1979. When opened in Feb.1848 it was called Kirknewton but after two months this was changed to Kirknewton and Midcalder. Circa 1855 a further change of name saw the station known as Midcalder which lasted until until May 1982 when it reverted to it`s original title of Kirknewton.
Blunham: Blunham signal box, still standing in 1968 after closure.
Glasgow Central: A Virgin Trains departure for London Euston meets a ScotRail arrival from Largs at Glasgow Central on 28 September 2012.
Holyhead: A blast from the recent past. An Arriva Trains Wales, Holyhead Depot labelled, Hi-Viz given to my wife when she was assisting me carrying out survey work at Holyhead station and environs in July 2014
Ayr Harbour Junction: Ayr Harbour Junction, showing the lines to the harbour which seem to peter out before they enter the harbour 'estate'. The long disused signals appeared to be unlit on 13 September 2023.
Killearn Hospital: Killearn Hospital was south of the railway. Much of the site has been cleared. The former railway, now the West Highland Way, can be seen running from centre bottom to centre right. Loch Lomond can be seen in the distance.
Crofton Beam Engine: The Crofton Beam Engine house can be seen in the background as a modern day service from Paddinton to Plymouth passes by. The chimney on the building has suffered frost damage and is currently subject of a fund rasing appeal for repairs.
Curra Level Crossing: View west in the direction of Mountain Stage across the former level crossing at Curra just west of Glenbeigh. The crossing keepers cottage survives behind the camera and Drung Hill is visble directly above the trackbed. The trackbed from Glenbeigh to the level crossing is currently under conversion to the first section of the South Kerry Greenway but it is not clear if the next section beyond the crossing which now forms part of a farm will be converted or if the local roads will be used from here to Mountain Stage.
Newmachar: 1965 view from a Fraserburgh-Aberdeen service arriving at Newmachar. An NBL Type 2 waits to cross with a northbound train.
