Headcorn: Headcorn station buildings, as seen over fifty years ago in 1972.
Aberdour: 66743 runs through Aberdour with the 'Royal Scotsman' to Boat of Garten on 4 September 2023. The houses in the background are on the site of a loading bank used to transfer stone from nearby Hawkcraig Quarry, which also had a tramway to a jetty on the Forth.
Blanefield: Blanefield looking east at the former level crossing. The station was beyond, the site of which has been increasingly overgrown with trees in recent years. The station's loop crossed the road and ended behind the camera.
Garriongill Junction: 66087 approaches Garriongill Junction with a load of opencast coal from Watsonhead in 2000, destination n/k. As far as I know coal loading at Watsonhead commenced in 2000 and finished at some time during 2004. The line remained in situ for a number of years until Garriongill Junction was taken OOU in 2015 or so. The bridge in the background is the Law Junction - Wishaw line.
Aviemore: And we're off. Black 5 No.5025 departs Aviemore for Broomhill.
Rothesay Pier: Presumably after being berthed around the western end of Rothesay pier, MV 'Countess of Breadalbane' affords her passengers a closer look at the promenade as she leaves. The photograph dates from 1963.
Gretna Green: Work almost complete at Gretna Green on 11 August 2008, with the second platform now operational following redoubling of the section to Annan. Outstanding items here include the area around the station entrance, parts of the new footbridge and the installation of permanent lighting. A Carlisle - Glasgow DMU is currently pulling away from the new northbound platform as a car on the adjacent A75 passes in the opposite direction..
Kings Cross St Pancras [GNPBR]: LU 1973 Piccadilly Line stock train, now on borrowed time having achieved their 50th anniversary, their replacement delayed by the covid pandemic, with a service to Cockfosters arriving at Kings Cross St. Pancras station, in the early afternoon of Tuesday, 5th September 2023. New Piccadilly Line trains are now scheduled to come into service in 2025.
Oxford: EWS 66140 southbound to Didcot with a short rake of car transporters at 1153. Rep. No. 4Z20, Bescot to Didcot.
Blanefield: An information board at Blanefield, east of the former station.
Inverkeithing East Junction: The Royal Scotsman climbing away from Inverkeithing East Junction, behind 66736 'Wolverhampton Wanderers', on its way to Aviemore and Boat of Garten on 29 September 2023.
Prestwick Town: With Ayr station currently closed to traffic, the 15.15 arrival at Prestwick from Glasgow terminated and ran empty to Newton to use the crossover and return to form the 15.40 to Glasgow.
Sunnyside Junction: 303037 is seen coming off the Whifflet route at Sunnyside Junction in June 1991 with a service for Dalmuir.
