Philpstoun: Between Philpstoun and Winchburgh Junction, the 10.00 ex. Queen Street Class 27 Push Pull working heads for Edinburgh in September 1979. These services were introduced in 1971 and continued for some nine years until replaced by 47s and DVTs.
Goathland: North Yorkshire Moors Railway Autumn Steam Gala 2023. Visiting Caledonian 0-4-4T 55189 and NER J27 0-6-0 65894 double head the 12:44 Grosmont to Pickering at Green End.
Airdrie: Airdrie, in a photograph thought to have been taken in 1968. One imagines that a Swindon DMU would not have been a regular sight there, but the circumstances were not recorded by the photographer. Perhaps a diversion from the normal route to Edinburgh from Queen Street High Level. Idle speculation might even suggest the 1968 Castlecary accident as the cause.
Kingsmuir: A masonry bridge between Mossside and East Mains, south of Kingsmuir. View from the east side.
Haymarket: View north from the boundary wall alongside Distillery Lane looking over Haymarket station on 21 April 2011. The buildings on the far side of Clifton Terrace form the backdrop beyond the busy looking Starbucks. Down below, the recently arrived East Coast 09.52 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross HST is in the process of boarding at platform 1.
Norwich: Norwich station clock on Saturday, 27th May 2023.
Perth: Perth station before the southern end of the canopy was removed [~1968]. A Brush Type 4 in the foreground and a Peak in the background. Does anyone have knowledge of Peaks working beyond Perth - either to the north or the north east? Photo by David Mahone. [Image [[32867]] shows 45054 at Aberdeen.]
Powderhall: The site of Edinburgh Corporations former Powderhall Depot, looking north from Broughton Road on 29 August 2023. The former Powderhall station platform, latterly adapted to serve as a waste container loading pad, survives on the right, with the original destructor building to the left.
Southampton Central: Steam on the Southern Region has less than a year to run, but Rebuilt Battle of Britain No 34052 'Lord Dowding' is looking in good nick as it arrives at Southampton Central on 24 September 1966.
Kingsmuir: View north through the bridge which carries a minor road at Mosside Farm, south of Kingsmuir. There were many bridges of this style along the line, this one being unusual as it has not been partly demolished or infilled.
Warth River Irwell Bridge: 3144, one of the last batch added to the Manchester Metrolink fleet, crosses the 'Monkey Bridge' over the Irwell while running between Bury and Piccadilly on 4th January 2023.
