Duddingston: Duddingston station closed to passengers on 10/09/1962 and this shot was taken some six years later looking in the Portobello direction.
Lunds Viaduct: 158758 heads 1E65, 13:36 Carlisle to Leeds on 8th August 2023, at Lunds viaduct and is about to enter Moorcock tunnel. Just beyond the footbridge in the background is the scene of the Hawes Junction collision of 24th December 1910 when two light engines were overhauled by a down Scotch Express resulting in 12 deaths and many more injured.
Buchanan Street: A North British Loco Type 2 in Platform 1 at Glasgow Buchanan Street on 5th November 1966. The station closed the following day.
Watford High Street: A class 313 EMU on a driver training run rounds the down curve towards Watford High Street station on 4th April 1985. It will shortly pass High Street junction (for the Croxley Green branch). The elderly 501 DC EMU stock then working the line was due to be replaced from May 1985 by the 313s, but poor availability of the latter delayed the transition for a while. In turn, 313 units reached the end of their innings in 2023.
Forfar South Junction: View west from Forfar showing the A90 and A926. Closer to the camera the original route of the A926 can be seen with the re-aligned version to its left. The present course of the road partly occupies the trackbed of the former Strathmore main line which can be seen beyond the A90 stretching off to Kirriemuir Junction in the distance.
Fleetwood [Esplanade]: A fifteen inch gauge miniature railway operated in this park on Fleetwood Esplanade from 1975 onwards. It was not particularly well patronised and it also suffered from vandalism resulting in its closure in 1982. This substantial bridge is a lasting reminder of the time when the line operated. The line was in fact the second on this site as there had been a ten and a quarter inch gauge line here in the 1950s.
Royal Border Bridge: The 1430 East Coast Edinburgh Waverley - London Kings Cross service photographed crossing the Royal Border Bridge on 7 October 2012 after restarting from Berwick . The trains next scheduled stop will be Newcastle Central.
