Alloa West Level Crossing: A Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa service passes the site of the former Alloa West level crossing (over Grange Road) on 31st March 2013. The road crossing was replaced by the footbridge seen in the background when the line was reopened. Unfortunately, when the line was later prepared for electrification, it was realized that this new footbridge had insufficient clearance for the overhead wires so an expensive fix to raise it 60cm was required in October 2012. A knock-on consequence was the need to introduce a zig zag into the north side approach path to the bridge to maintain an acceptable ramp gradient.
