Kinghorn: A 3 car Metro Cammel passing Kinghorn. I would guess a Dundee - Edinburgh working but no notes. No date ... probably early 70s.

Ostend: A view taken during a touring holiday, with my girlfriend, later wife, and other members of her family, in August 1970, based initially in Knokke le Zoute, Belgium, and later Luxembourg, I had not realised the significance of this view until I recently reviewed those taken on the trip, and then realised that the majestic building seen beyond the marina is in fact Ostend Railway Station. See image [[55718]] from 2016.

Balornock Shed: Ferryhill A4 Pacific 60019 ‘Bittern’ waiting to move on to the turntable at Balornock depot. The locomotive had brought in the morning 3-hour service from Aberdeen and would take the 5.30pm return that evening.

Colchester Town (St Botolphs): Surely, the grim reaper of railways has recently passed this way? Lifted track, a gutted signal box - its levers and innards dumped carelessly in the foreground – and a thick carpet of weeds can only mean closure and abandonment. Not this time, though. This photo is of Colchester St Botolphs on 29th July 1984 when it was very much alive with services between Colchester, Clacton and Walton. Similar weed-strewn vistas could be seen all over the East Anglian rail network that year, suggesting that no weed killer trains were about in 1983/1984.

Edzell: View south west along Dunlappie Road in Edzell in 1996 with a police station located roughly where the station building stood. The building in the middle of the view is a former railway cottage. The station site is now housing. The police station has since closed.

Scorton [Lancashire] [2nd]: 66066 'Geoff Spencer' rolls very cautiously over the embankment at Scorton with the afternoon Seaforth to Mossend containers on 16th August 2023. Trains had been running at normal speed at this point the previous day but a severe temporary speed restriction had apparently been applied to the northbound line overnight.

Darlington [Bank Top]: A Northern Pacer goes from sunshine to shadow as it runs into the long through platform 4 on the west side of Darlington station on 24 August 2009. The train is on a through service from Saltburn to Bishop Auckland.

Warrington Bank Quay: Against the well-known backdrop of Crosfield's detergent works, an Avanti Pendolino arrives with a service from Lancaster to London Euston on 12 August 2023. Less well known is that Crosfield's once burned surplus mines gas, piped from Parkside Colliery some 4 miles to the north. Both Parkside Colliery and Crosfield's works are now closed.
