Dundee Ward Road: The site of Dundee Ward Road seen in 1998, 137 years after its closure, in a view looking north east over Ward Road. The station site is now occupied by Telephone House, between the left side of this view and church on the right. Trains for Newtyle were hauled up the Law Incline from the station. Out of shot on the left were sidings in Lord Airlie's stone depot and on the right was a small yard from which a street level horse operated tramway continued down to the Earl Grey Dock.
Warrington Arpley: Although the tracks still run through the site of Warrington Arpley station (closed 1958), there are no traces of any passenger facilities. However, on the south side of the line, near sidings once used for stabling diesel locos, these offices were part of the goods yard facilities and survive in 2022 alongside the Arpley railway bridge over the River Mersey.
Golant: 66108 at Golant with empty CDA clay wagons from Fowey heading back to Rocks driers at Goonbarrow Junction.
Rhyd Ddu: A timetabled Welsh Highland Railway train from Caernarfon to Porthmadog arriving at Rhyd-Ddu on 6th April 2019. The locomotive is a 1999 replica of former 0-4-4T single 'Fairlie', built for the Festiniog Railway in 1876 and named 'Taliesin'. It was withdrawn from service around 1932 so it was well over 60 years before this replica was built, bearing the name of its predecessor.
Custom House [EL]: A class 345 calls at Custom House with a service to Reading on 25 January 2023.
Glammis [1st]: These were the goods banks at the former Glamis station, possibly on the site of the original Glammis station. In this 1996 view, the remains of the later station are on the right and the signal box can be seen. The terminus at Glammis was probably obliterated when the Scottish Midland Junction Railway upgraded the older line to modern standards to form part of the main line from Perth to Forfar. The view looks west. The goods sidings were once connected by turnplates.
Warrington Bank Quay: It would be easy to miss the modern main entrance to Bank Quay station, a small building that sits below the platforms and the road. The giant soap works on the opposite side of the line dominates this view in February 2023. A CAF DMU is in Platform 1 heading to Chester.
Dalmally: 153380 leads 156445 on the 10:36 Glasgow Queen Street to Oban as it passes a waiting east bound service at Dalmally on 22 February 2023.
Harringay: A closer view of the spur down to the London Overground GOBLIN line at Crouch Hill, seen from the south end of Harringay station, on 18th April 2019. Normally used only for freight and empty stock workings but was traversed northbound (towards the camera) by a UK Railtours' excursion to the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley, on which I was a passenger, a few weeks later on 4th May 2019.
Craigendoran Pier: A bracing morning at Craigendoran Pier, with the 'Maid of Skelmorlie' taking on a good passenger complement. The picture is thought to date from 1963.
Hillhead [Subway]: Unit 119 calls at Hillhead with an outer circle service. New Stadler trains will be introduced later in the year.
Alyth Junction: View south west over the main line at Alyth Junction with the goods yard to the right and station behind the camera. There was a single siding on the left beside the high bank. The goods yard dated from the days when the station was called Meigle, before the Alyth branch and its Meigle station opened.
Morley: 185149, on a Huddersfield to Leeds stopping service, calls at Morley on 15th February 2023. The station site is cramped but the only access to both platforms is via these steps and so an area behind the camera has been cleared for a new station and work has commenced on building this.
