Carron Harbour: 170427 passes the disused Carron Harbour, with the 13.40 from Dundee to Edinburgh, on 30 January 2023. Burntisland is in the background. Carron Harbour was built by the Carron Iron Company in 1808 to ship locally mined limestone to their works near Falkirk, replacing an earlier pier. A narrow gauge tramway connected the workings with the harbour, passing under the new main line that opened in 1890.
Fouldubs Junction: 37157 has left Grangemouth and has just passed through Fouldubs Junction with the Leuchars tanks in 1982. The once rail served wood yard on the right is now part of the WH Malcolm depot and Grangemouth Shed was off to the left.
Bromborough: 507030, heading for Chester, calls at Bromborough on 1st February 2023. The canopy from main line days still stands on the Liverpool platform. Bromborough is the last station before Hooton and also served by Ellesmere Port trains.
Steyrleithen: On the 760mm gauge Steyrtalbahn in the summer of 1970, in the days when the railway was still part of the OBB network, 1898-built 0-6-2T 298.52 was pictured between Molln and Gruenburg with an afternoon service bound for Garsten. I cannot now remember the exact location, but think it was near Steyrleithen.
Priestfield: Now withdrawn Midland Metro tram no.09 to Wolverhampton St. George's at Priestfield, on 18th March 2014. This tram stop is just north of the former heavy rail station of that name, which is where the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton line met the GWR main line from Birmingham Snow Hill and which had platforms on both sets of lines. The Oxford line used to continue straightahead with the Birmingham line curving sharply to the left and the curve can be discerned in the background in this scene.
Loughborough Central: BR 9F 2-10-0 92214 parked up in the Loughborough Central shed sidings during the GCR 2023 winter gala. I had hoped to see the two Standard 5s that were running, sometimes double headed, but sadly we never met. The timetable was all over the place and if I went north one went south and if I went south they went north.
Largs: An SPT liveried class 318 EMU from Glasgow Central about to enter Largs station at the end of its 43 mile journey on the morning of 17 May 2007.
Rowantree Lineside Cottage: The site of Rowantree Lineside Cottage, west of Gorton Crossing, seen in 2021. All that remained was the pile of bricks in the foreground.
Aberlour: View of Aberlour from the front of an approaching Speyside-line DMU in 1964. An EE Type 1 waits in the station with a freight in the opposite direction.
Brock Water Troughs: A C&RT maintenance boat and dumb barge are moored near Brock, in between Lancaster Canal tasks, on 31st January 2023. 390126 passes the scene heading for Glasgow.
Newington Goods: 47103 nears Newington, passing the former goods station, with cement empties for Oxwellmains in 1974. The former D1691 was in service until 1987, and scrapped two years later at Berry's in Leicester.
Barnhill [D and PR]: Caledonian ECS working behind 73969, heading to Polmadie from Aberdeen, passing Barnhill signal box on 30th January 2023. The earthworks from the recent layout revisions can be seen.
Shadwell: 357029 with C2C train approaching Fenchurch Street past the DLR station at Shadwell, on a freezing 25th January 2023. Another outing when my friend and fellow Railscot contributor Bill Roberton from Scotland was with me.
